1. Think of a time when you were either selected for something special or rejected for something you really wanted, and how it made you feel. Reflect on what it means to you to be specially chosen by the most important Being in the universe.

2. Do you sometimes feel neglected, ignored or even forgotten? What is Jesus’ assurance for us in this regard?

3. God chooses us not because we are good, but so as to make us good. How does this provide hope and security for us? How does it motivate you to live differently?

• 1. Share a time when a person of status and power showed favour towards you and how it made you feel. Why do you think the Bible presents adoption by God as the highest privilege and blessing?
• 2. What are some things we receive when we become sons of God? Why are they better than material things like wealth, health, success, relationships or a trouble-free life?
• 3. Where and how do you tend to derive your sense of self-worth? How does knowing that you are accepted by God set you free from the need to perform?

• 1. Have you ever done something wrong knowingly but felt helpless to stop yourself? Share with the CG how God has journeyed with you to help you experience restoration of freedom (from addictions, mindsets, lifestyles, etc.) in Him in one or more areas of your life.
• 2. Do you struggle with the sense that your debt before God is too great and sometimes doubt whether you have been fully released? Share with the CG how through Christ, you are growing more and more confident of your position as a co-heir with Christ and what this means for you.
• 3. If you were to think back on your life, what moments shook your self-worth that you never quite recovered from? Share with the CG how knowing the precious blood of Christ now is helping you to revalue your worth as the Spirit of the Lord transforms you into His image from glory to glory.

• 1. What does God guarantee to protect us from? What does he not promise to protect us from? What does being protected by him mean to you personally?
• 2. How is the Holy Spirit similar to the seal used in ancient times? How is he different? How confidently do you believe that you truly belong to God?
• 3. What is the function of a making a deposit? What do you think is in store for us in eternity? What difference should it make to the way you live now?
